Fuel Supply system in Petrol Engine.

Fuel supply system in Spark ignition (SI) engine.

Generally, the Si engine is used in light vehicles. Scooters, Bikes, Cars, etc., and in the Si engine most commonly used fuel is Petrol and Gas. CNG (Compressed natural gas). SI engine is part of I C. Engine (Internal combustion engine).

Generally Gravitational fuel supply system is used in two-wheelers. Three and four- and four-wheeler Pump fuel supply systems used in automobile vehicles.

How To work the Fuel Supply system. / Fuel supply system working.

Fuel supply system in Petrol engine

Here is the pump fuel supply system which is used in modern vehicles. In this pump fuel supply system.

The fuel tank stores the fuel and the Fuel pump sucks the fuel from the fuel tank and supply to the end of the engine. In between fuel passes through a fuel filter which purifies the fuel and then it transfers to the carburetor.

The carburetor mixes Petrol and air as per engine speed and load. Air comes to the carburetor through an air filter which cleans the air and transfers it to the carburetor. Then this fuel air mixture is transferred to the inlet manifold which transfers the carburized mixture to the engine through the inlet valve.

You can be more clear about the working of the fuel system by the below block- diagram of the fuel supply system image. You can easily understand this block-diagram fuel supply system in a petrol engine.

Functions of fuel supply system components.

1) Fuel tank:-  The function of the fuel tank is to store the fuel.

2) Fuel pump:- The function of a fuel pump is to suck the fuel from the fuel tank and transfer it to the engine.

3) Fuel filter:- The function of the fuel filter is to purify or clean the fuel that comes from the fuel tank.

4) Carburetor:- The function of a carburetor is to generate or make a mixture of Petrol and air. This mixture is called charge.

5) Air filter:- The function of an air filter is to clean/ purify the air before transfer into the carburetor.

6) Inlet manifold:- The function of the inlet manifold is to prepare or make a proper charge as per engine speed and load and transfer to the engine.

7) Engine:- The function of the engine is to work as per the ratio of air and fuel mixture charge entering into the cylinder chamber.
