Lubrication system in I. C engine

The lubrication system in automobiles is very important to maintain engine capability. We are all aware the word of “lubrication” and the need for lubrication when the parts are rubbing or friction between two moving parts. Generally the need for lubrication or use lubrication, where the moving parts produce more noise, produce irritating sound and jam the door lock, higher friction between two moving parts, etc. so in this situation we can use lubrication oil to reduce sound, friction, vibration, and freely movement.

Commonly we use hair oil, and burn oil for home situations. Also, we can use or people already used burn oil, hair oil in automobile outside parts lubricate. Like bicycle sprocket and chain, bike chain and sprocket, bike brake, bike stand, kick, side stands scooters, etc.

Special types of oil are used on the inside of the engine. Different or special types of oil are used as per company guidance.

Here is a description of the use of the lubrication system and the aim of the lubrication system.

Aim or the function of the lubrication system.

  • Reduce friction between two moving parts. Reduce vibration.
  •  Reduce wear and tear.
  • Increases engine life.
  • Reduce friction between two moving parts and provide the cooling effect of friction parts.

How does the lubrication system work?

In automobile Engine oil is used as lubricant inside the engine. Liquid lubricant generally used is mineral oil in I. C engine (Internal combustion engine).

New engine oil is used as per company advice or you can use any engine oil as per your connivance.  So fresh or new engine oil enters into the engine pan through the engine oil enters the port and then closes the enter port.

Now you start the engine, the inside engine oil lubricates the piston, connecting road, crank shaft, pin, cylinder wall, etc. That helps to reduce friction between the piston and cylinder wall and provides cooling effects of frictional parts. So by use of engine oil increases the engine life and prevents the engine block effect.

Types of lubricant.

(1) Solid lubricant (Graphite)

(2) Semi-solid lubricant (Grease).

(3) Liquids lubricant (Oil)

How to change the engine oil.

  • The engine oil change process is very simple; In short word, we can describe it. First off the engine of the automobile and leave it a few minutes to cool. (if you run for half an hour). Then open the drain plug below the engine and collect burn oil in a bowel-type vessel.
  • Leave it for a few minutes so all burn engine oil collects in the below vessel.
  • Close the drain plug tightly.
  • Take new engine oil and enter from the top engine oil port.
  • Close the enter engine oil port.

Safety instruments during the engine oil change.

The changing of engine oil is a very easy process. But during the changing of engine oil safety goggles and hand gloves are used or worn. Hand gloves and safety goggles save your body from hot oil.

Properties of good lubricants.

(1) Viscosity.

(2) High viscosity index.

(3) Chemically stable.

(4) Cleanliness.

(5) High fire point.

(6) High Flashpoint.

(7) Lower pour point

(8) Oxidation resistance.

What happens if engine oil is not changed regularly?

If you cannot change the engine oil regularly and then slowly inside the engine, the engine oil will burn and increase the wear and tear between pistons and cylinders, reducing engine life and capability sometimes the engine will block, and then vehicles will stop or not run.

What happens if engine oil is not added in I. C engine / Automobile?

If you do not add the engine oil regularly and then slowly inside the engine, increases the wear and tear between pistons and cylinders, reduces engine life and capability, and sometimes the engine will block and then vehicles will stop and not run.

How many Kilometer engine oil changes?

Generally as per the Company information booklet, In 2- 2-wheelers every 2000Km to 2300Km change the engine oil. And in 4- wheelers every 10000km to 12000km change the engine oil.

Note:- Different- different automobile brands mention different Kilometers as per their engine design and engine capacity.
